“Zan Overall is a songwriter who hasn’t received the recognition he deserves. His songs run a wide gamut of subjects and styles, often based on everyday concepts like love, loss, loneliness, age and religion but always constructed in entertaining, original, unique and often surprising ways. Among his canon are undiscovered treasures that should find a home on cabaret stages everywhere.”
-By day, Elliot Zwiebach is a reporter for a business publication; by night he is a cabaret reviewer and occasional singer.
“I feel so privileged to have Zan Overall come and share his wonderful music with us every Tuesday at the Gardenia Open Mike. He is not only a talented songwriter but eclectic. I don’t know of any songwriter whose subjects include expected and unexpected subjects such as a cheating man (“Juggler Man”), an aging mother and a song about his left hand, which happens to be my favorite, “My Good Left Hand.”
Not only are his subject matters varied but his styles are as well. A very talented songwriter perfect for lyric driven Cabaret. I’m thrilled to hear and sing his work.”
